Vanquish Uses Revolutionary No-touch Technology to Melt Away Fat

Carrying a few extra pounds of stubborn fat in the belly or thighs is a problem that can seem impossible to solve. Many women have tried all sorts of costly and sometimes painful solutions to tighten up their bellies and thighs, such as liposuction and ultrasound. The discomfort, expense, time spent, and lack of results with these procedures can be frustrating. Non-invasive procedures for reducing belly, love handle, and thigh fat are in high demand.

For these reasons, Vanquish has taken the industry by storm. Vanquish is a revolutionary, non-invasive fat-reducing procedure that involves absolutely no surgery, no medication, and no recovery time. In a study of 25 patients who had undergone the Vanquish procedure, all reported seeing visible results after their very first session. After four treatments, an average of two inches of fat was lost around the waist. We are excited to be offering the new Flex applicator for the Vanquish system.  This new applicator allows us to treat the inner and outer thigh simultaneously.  Applying the Vanquish technology to new treatment areas such as the thighs, arms or other small areas increases the versatility of the Vanquish platform.

How does the Vanquish procedure reduce belly and thigh fat?

Vanquish is a non-surgical, no-touch method of melting fat cells in the abdomen and love handles. While the patient relaxes on her back, the applicator panels are positioned above the area to be treated. At Hamilton Dermatology, we are happy to offer our patients unique flexible applicator panels that are capable of targeting the smaller areas of the outer and inner thighs, as well as the belly and love handles.

Sensors in the machine calculate the amount of energy needed to target each patient’s fat cells. Radio-frequency is emitted to heat the skin to 100°, and the deep adipose, or fat, layer beneath it to 120°. Here, a process called apoptosis occurs, where the heat causes fat cells to die.

This death of the fat cells is usually instant, but some cells may take several weeks to disappear. These dead cells are filtered naturally through the body by the lymphatic system.

There is no pain associated with Vanquish. Patients report a warming sensation similar to standing near a radiator. At no time do the applicator panels actually touch the patient’s skin.

How many treatments should I have?

Many patients who undergo the Vanquish procedure see results immediately after their first treatment. However, Hamilton Dermatology recommends four to six 30-minute treatments for the most effective reduction of overall belly, love handle, and thigh fat. Expect to schedule one treatment per week.

How much weight can I lose with Vanquish?

Unlike more dramatic fat-reducing procedures like liposuction, Vanquish is ideal for patients who would like to lose a few inches off their waistlines and reduce fat in their outer and inner thighs. Think of it more as a procedure to sculpt trouble spots, rather than a weight-loss procedure. The Vanquish procedure is recommended for patients who would like to lose a small amount of belly or thigh fat, but who do not have enough fat cells to pursue more extreme options like liposuction. Your jeans may fit slightly looser, and your belly or thigh areas will look more toned and contoured.

Is Vanquish safe?

Vanquish is non-invasive and non-surgical, and there are no significant side effects of this procedure. Some patients may experience a “hot spot” sensation if the radio-frequency waves are too close to the bone, but this is easily rectified by moving the applicator.

The unique radio-frequency technology used in the Vanquish system is able to target the dense fat cells of the abdomen and thighs, bypassing the lighter skin and muscle cells. This way, patients can be assured that only their fat cells will be affected by this procedure.

No anesthesia or incisions are needed with the Vanquish treatment.

Vanquish has been approved by the FDA for deep-tissue heating.

What are the side effects and recovery times with Vanquish?

As Vanquish is a relatively new fat-loss procedure, there is no long-term data on side effects. However, BTL Aesthetics of Framingham MA, the manufacturer of Vanquish, has reported no patient complaints of damage to skin, muscle, nerves, hair follicles, or internal organs.

Because of the non-surgical nature of the Vanquish procedure, there is no recovery time as such. Immediately after treatment, some patients report mild redness, tenderness, minor swelling, or warmth. These minor effects typically do not last more than an hour. Each session lasts for half an hour, and patients are free to return to work and their daily activities immediately afterwards.

Patients are advised to drink plenty of water before and after each treatment to assist their body’s lymphatic system in flushing out the dead fat cells.

How long do the results last?

As the Vanquish procedure effectively kills fat cells, its effects can be considered permanent as long as a proper diet is maintained. If the patient does put on some weight after the Vanquish procedure, it will likely not be seen in the areas that were treated.

If you are interested in trying Vanquish or would like to see if you would be a good candidate, please call the office to schedule a free cosmetic consultation.
